App Templates
You can now browse and select from a library of pre-built App Templates. The templates are fully working app projects that you can test and evaluate on your own mobile device. The templates showcase the wide range of capability of Umajin and even further reduce the time to create your apps. You can use a template as constructed and simply apply your brand and load your content – or you can use it as a starter project and modify and enhance it to suit your needs.
Forms
Data collection is a powerful use case for mobile apps and Umajin has enhanced this capability. The forms engine has been upgraded in 1.7 to provide greater power and flexibility. Forms can now be designed and laid out with complete freedom and in a consistent fashion with the rest of the Umajin design first philosophy. Forms will now correctly scale to screen making a single layout work across device screen size and resolution.
The 1.7 forms system also supports a range of input objects, for example;
- Style-able native text (set font properties)
- Time and date pickers
- Slider input controls
- Check lists
- Toggle buttons
Umajin has provided a library of JavaScript controls, with more be added all the time. Users can also modify existing JavaScript objects or create their own custom objects.
Grid Display
A data driven feed list is a very powerful and flexible way to display your content. The feed list has been enhanced to optionally operate as a grid with multiple columns. It can now scroll vertically or horizontally. When you have a vertical list your items can adjust in size to accommodate different text or images in your feed. The feed list also now has a bounce effect at the top and bottom for user feedback.
Editor Online/Offline Mode
If you are on a plane – or away from the internet, offline mode allows you to keep working locally on any project available in your current user login. When you get back online, simply change to online mode and the app will automatically re-synchronize.
Component and Action Picker
v1.7.0 has improved the experience of finding new Components and Actions to add to your app projects. An expanded category system has made it easier to browse Components and Actions, but even better is the addition of a search that makes it simple to find the object you are looking for.
File Menu
we have added a more traditional File Menu system to the top of the Umajin Editor Toolbar. This is the tried and true method for finding your way around software’s features and functionality. This should improve new users experience with the software and lowers the learning curve even further.
Component Alignment
A full range of group alignment tools have been added. Align top, center, bottom, left, middle, right, distribute widths or heights, and normalize widths or heights.
Text Editing
Improved font style management, double click to edit text and in-line WYSIWYG editing for simple text. We have also improved Unicode support for double byte languages.
High DPI awareness
The Editor is now high DPI aware on Windows and OSX – this enables a crisper UI experience on high DPI screens such as Retina and systems with 4K/5K monitors.
Dashboard – Improved Table Editor
Improvements to the Dashboard allow you to better manage and edit your data. We have improved the layout and control of the table editor to allow better viewing and editing of large data sets.
SoftLayer Hosting
For companies wanting on premise secure versions of the Dashboard, we have the option of highly secure IBM SoftLayer™ hosting.
Packaged Elements
An exciting new feature is the packaging system which allows Enterprises to curate custom components, actions and feeds and make them available to their users for access to enterprise capability and brand kits.
Cloud Integrations
Using the new packaged elements capability, Umajin can create a library of new cloud integrations, for example integration with: Google Analytics and Salesforce. These are open source JavaScript files which can be enhanced or extended.
